Democrats have a playbook, and it’s getting worn out from overuse: smear, distract, and hope the mud sticks long enough to sway the gullible. Enter Rep. Jasmine Crockett, the Texas Democrat who took to the House floor with a list of Republicans she accused of pocketing cash from “somebody” named Jeffrey Epstein.
“Mitt Romney, the NRCC, Lee Zeldin, George Bush, WinRed, McCain-Palin, Rick Lazio,” she rattled off, claiming her team had whipped up the research in a flash.
Of course, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin fired back on X: “Yes, Crockett, a physician named Dr. Jeffrey Epstein (who is a totally different person than the other Jeffrey Epstein) donated to a prior campaign of mine. NO FREAKIN RELATION YOU GENIUS!!!”
On the surface, this looks like another Crockett blunder, the kind that has President Trump labeling her “a very low-IQ person.” But dig a little deeper, and it’s clear this wasn’t some innocent mix-up between a notorious sex offender and an unrelated New York doctor. No, this was calculated.
Crockett or her handlers knew exactly what they were doing—dropping the Epstein name into the ether, tying it to Republicans, and letting the implication fester in the minds of their base. They count on low-information voters to hear “Epstein” and “Republican donations” in the same breath, embedding a false narrative that paints Trump allies as tainted by association. Facts be damned; the damage is done the moment the words leave her mouth.
This tactic isn’t new. It’s straight out of the Alinsky rules—accuse your opponents of what you’re guilty of, or in this case, fabricate connections to infamous figures to erode trust. Crockett’s stunt came amid her push to probe alleged efforts by the DOJ and FBI to hide Trump’s supposed ties to Epstein, as detailed in her recent letter demanding answers. She’s been all over cable news, questioning Trump’s sudden support for releasing Epstein files, calling it a ploy to bury them later. But when CNN fact-checked her live on air for trying to smear Trump over those docs, she crumbled, exposing the hollowness of her claims.
Why the charade? Because in the Democrats’ world, truth is optional if it serves the greater goal of clinging to power. By invoking the wrong Epstein—deliberately—they plant seeds of doubt that grow into full-blown conspiracy theories among their followers. Never mind that the real Epstein’s web ensnared plenty on the left; the goal is to keep the spotlight off their own skeletons while demonizing anyone who dares to drain the swamp.
Zeldin, a battle-tested Republican who fought for New York governorship and now steers the EPA toward sanity, represents everything they fear: competence without the corruption. Smearing him with this Epstein sleight-of-hand is just the latest desperate swing in a losing game.
Voters saw through it in 2024, and as the new term unfolds, these antics will only remind Americans why they rejected the chaos. If Crockett’s office has a real apology—or better yet, an explanation— we’re still waiting. But don’t hold your breath; accountability isn’t in their vocabulary.
