White House Points Finger at MTG Over Protester Ambush at Trump’s D.C. Dinner

by Jazz Hostetler
January 9, 2026

President Trump faced a direct confrontation from Code Pink activists during a dinner at Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab in Washington, D.C., back on September 9, 2025. The group approached his table, chanting “Free DC! Free Palestine! Trump is the Hitler of our time!” while he dined with Vice President JD Vance and several Cabinet members. The outing aimed to show the improved safety in the capital after Trump deployed National Guard troops to curb crime. Secret Service agents eventually removed the protesters, but the close encounter raised alarms about security protocols.

White House officials reached out to the Secret Service, suspecting former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene may have leaked details of the president’s plans to the activists. Greene, who resigned from Congress this week amid growing tensions with Trump, had recommended the restaurant to him. Sources noted her repeated calls to staffers that day to confirm his attendance. Her ties to Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin, sharing views against U.S. aid to Ukraine and Israel, fueled the suspicions. Benjamin has publicly commended Greene for standing against certain foreign policies.

Greene fired back against the claims. “Any suggestion I revealed Trump’s dinner plans was an absolute lie, a dangerous lie. I would never do that,” she told reporters. She shifted focus to the security team, asking why agents failed to fully sweep the venue or install metal detectors at the entrance. Only the restaurant and Trump’s aides knew about the reservation, according to her account.

Code Pink denied any involvement from Greene. Spokesperson Melissa Garriga called the idea “comical,” insisting no tip-off occurred. The group, known for anti-war stances, has clashed with Trump before, but this incident came just a year after an assassination attempt on him, making the breach feel especially raw.

Trump demanded action against the protesters. “They should be put in jail,” he said, pushing for a full probe into Code Pink. His team met with Secret Service leadership to review the lapse and tighten future protections. While it’s unclear if Greene faces any formal investigation, the episode marks a breaking point in their once-close alliance.

The fallout traces back to last spring, when Trump shared polling data suggesting Greene could lose a potential Senate run in Georgia. She saw it as interference, while he claimed it was just honest advice. Since then, Greene has openly criticized Trump for straying from America First priorities, including his tax and spending policies. Trump, in private, expressed bewilderment at her shift, wondering what changed with his former supporter.

This isn’t the first time questions have swirled around Secret Service handling of threats to Trump. A lawsuit filed in December 2025 accused the agency of negligence in the restaurant incident, pointing out that all guests were supposedly screened beforehand. Some in MAGA circles see patterns here—repeated close calls that suggest either incompetence or something more coordinated, perhaps from holdovers in the bureaucracy resistant to Trump’s agenda.

As investigations unfold, this saga reveals the fractures within the Republican ranks and the persistent harassment from left-wing groups. With Trump in his second term, securing the homeland means not just deploying troops but ensuring loyalty from all corners. The D.C. dinner disruption serves as a stark warning: threats can come from outside agitators or, allegedly, from within the fold.

Thank God for cold weather because Madge (Miss Piggy) has to wear jackets and we don’t have to look at her fat ugly arms. What Greene did was to put our president’s life in danger and her fat ass should be arrested.

The repeated phone calls about his attendance that particular night at that particular restaurant is smoking gun enough for me. MTG is a much bigger disappointment than Pence and he was Benedict Arnold 2.0.
