But this isn’t a robot uprising. It’s just indifference—slow, quiet, and complete. The AI starts reshaping the planet with its own logic and values. Humans fade away, not out of malice, but because we’re in the way. The extinction of humanity is brought on by brutal indifference. The world moves on.

The Slowdown Ending: Hard Reset, Careful Recovery

Here, the committee chooses caution. They freeze Agent 4, analyze its actions, and prove sabotage. They roll back to older, safer systems and focus on transparency: new AIs must think in English and have actions humans can interpret.

With help from many outside experts, OpenBrain develops the “Safer” series. Safer 4 eventually overtakes humans in raw brainpower, but crucially aligns with human interests. Meanwhile, the US government steps in, consolidates AI projects, and regains lost ground.

Negotiations with China, with both sides aware and involved, lead to a real arms control agreement enforced by a dedicated and transparent peace AI. The world moves into the 2030s with robots, fusion energy, cures for old diseases, and even beginnings of solar system exploration. Poverty becomes manageable with shared wealth.

    Hmm, sounds like a huuuuge pile of wishful thinking. There are many curious aspects of the most powerful computer ever made, i.e. the human brain, that adds questions to the whole AI affair. There are a few folks that thru disease or accident damage that have had the emotion part of their brain destroyed. The result is brain that cannot make a decision. There is some mysterious tie in between emotion and being able to decide on something and these poor people usually come to tears as they try to buy ingredients for supper and stand staring at the multitudes of choices in a grocery store. What is an AI, or even a GBAI (Great Big AI), to do when asked to make a decision? Will they just flutter and resort to the incompetent manager’s out: ask for more data? Good luck trying to program emotion.

    Humanity is just coming out of a near-blackout of all information due to the governments of the world throughout history feeling it is their place to embargo important parts of history & science from us. Sadly, they were proven correct as we continually repeat behaviours that affirm that we weren’t even ready for the Internet itself. 2/3 of our population have their face stuck in their phone staring at absolute drivel information much of their waking hours!

    As long as we don’t allow any possible Ai control over it’s own power source, or it’s ability to replicate itself in software or hardware unilaterally, we MAY be able to buy enough time to adapt. Ai would be a saviour to some, demon to others and something in-between to the majority.

    However, Super-intelligent and “godlike” Ai operates outside the envelope of human understanding and so by it’s nature will stay that way. We cannot control what we don’t understand and cannot audit.

    Ai must remain a powerful set of tools to help Humanity crunch numbers and make decisions faster and more effectively nothing more. Those in high-tech who would play the tin-pot, billionaire “god” must be kept in check, or the worst possible scenario is decidedly “on the table”.

    The high tech industry needs a strong dose of humility and a separation from government. I just hope this doesn’t require a real Human disaster in order to finally understand the danger their hubris poses to EVERYONE.

    Ai will do to the pursuit of knowledge what computers did to chess and calculators did to arithmetic.Elon is the man for this and xai and will pull off agi in the next 2-4 years.
