(The Gateway Pundit)—An Alvarado, Texas police officer was shot and wounded in the neck late Friday night in an apparent ambush attack by an armed group outside the ICE Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, located just south of Dallas-Fort Worth.
Several suspects are reported in custody. The officer was taken to a local hospital, was treated and released.
The officer was apparently “ambushed during a protest-related incident” according to the Texas Municipal Police Association:
An Alvarado officer was shot this morning (sic)—possibly ambushed during a protest-related incident near a federal detention facility. Our member was airlifted. Stable condition. TMPA Attorney Lance Wyatt responded to be with our member. A daily reminder: Every shift carries risk. This job is never routine. We stand with our member and every Texas cop who runs toward danger.
Excerpt from CBS News report:
Just before 11 p.m., the Alvarado Police Department said it was called to the 1200 block of Sunflower Lane, outside the ICE Prairieland Detention Facility, on a report of a suspicious person.
