(DCNF)—Retired Army Gen. Jack Keane appeared on Fox Business Monday to share what he said is the reason why Hezbollah has remained silent and inactive when it comes to defending Iran.
President Donald Trump ordered strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities Saturday night and warned of additional strikes if Iran targets any U.S. forces in the region. During an appearance on “Kudlow,” Keane explained why Hezbollah has not fired a single shot to defend Iran.
“They have not fired a shot to defend Iran, and that’s why they were organized. I asked the Israeli general, what is going on? Do they have any missiles left? He said, ‘General, they’ve got a few thousand missiles left,’” Keane told Larry Kudlow. “And I said, so what is it? He said, ‘There is no willing to fight because they see the end inside of Iran.’”
Keane added that Hezbollah fighters see little reason to risk their lives for a regime they believe is doomed.
“What are they going to go out there and die for? If Iran is not going to be able to survive this?” Keane asked. “Strategic change is coming.”
Keane said Hezbollah transformed into one of the most formidable military organizations ever created.
“Hezbollah was funded with billions of dollars. They made them into a military organization. They’re the most capable terrorist organization that had ever been created, exceeded al-Qaeda by far, 150,000 rockets and missiles. They were the ground force in Syria, tens of thousands of them propped up the Assad regime,” Keane added. “When they left, the Assad regime falls.”
The U.S. strikes followed 10 days after Israel launched a military operation against Iran’s nuclear program. In retaliation, Iran has repeatedly fired missiles at Israeli cities and rejected any return to negotiations over its nuclear ambitions.
Iran reportedly fired back in retaliation to the U.S. attack, striking the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar with a missile barrage. The missiles were said to match the number of U.S. bombs dropped on Iran, with at least one missile reportedly hitting Iraq.
