President Donald Trump reiterated the United States needs control over Greenland to protect national security interests in the Arctic region. The president made the comments in an interview over the weekend, following the successful operation in Venezuela that removed Nicolás Maduro from power.
Trump emphasized Greenland’s strategic location amid growing activity from Russian and Chinese vessels in surrounding waters. The island hosts the U.S. Pituffik Space Base, critical for missile warning and space surveillance systems. Trump stated the U.S. requires full control because current arrangements with Denmark fall short against emerging threats.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen responded firmly, declaring the U.S. has no right to annex Greenland and urging an end to threats against a NATO ally. Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen called the linkage to Venezuela disrespectful, stressing the island’s autonomy within the Danish kingdom.
The president’s push aligns with broader efforts to secure critical minerals and counter adversary influence in the Arctic. Greenland holds vast reserves of rare earth elements essential for high-tech and defense applications. Trump appointed Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as special envoy last month to advance U.S. interests there.
European leaders expressed concern over the rhetoric, especially after the Venezuela action raised questions about U.S. intentions toward allies. France reaffirmed support for Danish and Greenlandic sovereignty. The European Union highlighted respect for international law.
Trump dismissed Danish criticisms, noting existing defense agreements provide access but not sufficient control. He argued the move would benefit NATO by strengthening Arctic defenses against Russia and China.
Polls show most Greenlanders oppose U.S. annexation, favoring independence from Denmark instead. However, U.S. officials point to the island’s small population and economic ties as factors in potential negotiations.
The administration views Greenland as vital for protecting North American approaches and monitoring polar routes. Melting ice opens new shipping lanes, intensifying great power competition.
Trump’s comments come as the U.S. asserts dominance in the Western Hemisphere and beyond. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has supported bolstering Arctic presence without directly addressing annexation.
Critics warn aggressive pursuit risks straining NATO relations at a time of global tensions. Supporters argue bold action secures American leadership in strategic regions.
The situation remains fluid, with diplomatic channels open despite public friction. Trump indicated discussions could intensify soon.

I sense that Trump is stirring the pot to set the stage for an edge in negotiations with Demark/Greenland to gain sufficient control of Greenland for the security of the Western Hemisphere.
No, so he can borrow against their resources. You apparently aren’t Jewish. He thinks the U.S. can steal it’s way to prosperity.
This is OUR hemisphere you scumbag
Lol.
You got the TDS
Trump should seek a form of parity access to Greenland. Say as far as mineral extraction: We develop a site and mine it, giving an agreed percentage to Denmark and Greenland for their needs. The same would apply to military pronouncements and all forms of accesses. Whatever our free rage access benefits are, Denmark and Greenland would share in based upon a prior blanket agreement.
Godspeed, USA and President Trump.
Denmark is full of illegal alien islamic terrorists living in there dirt bag nation and soon then you think they will take over the entire and Trump is right Greenland is the Buffer between us and them. It will be overrun very soon like all of Europe is with third world islamic satanic scum vermin and what would they do then. Trump would need to take it by force. Denmark is a fallen nation with so many illegals they have lost there heritage and honor to third world scum. Who cares about Denmark they have no power on the world stage at all and its basically over with there Woke and DIE insane madness.
A women, as usual, is stopping Adam from his perfection, the women being used by Satan.

The real strategic reason Trump wants Greenland is that it’s geothermal energy can be used to generate electricity to power data centers. The natural cold atmospheric climate can be used to cool the processors. The US does not have enough time to build nuclear reactors to power AI data centers and can’t afford to build gas or coal powered generators. Cutting off Venezuelan oil from China might slow them down some but it will drive Russia and China closer together because of Russian gas to power what China’s thorium reactors can’t. This is about creating an AI system that will be used as a weapon.
This is OUR hemisphere.
Trump is a control freak and a megalomaniac. Israel uses Trump like a toy robot.
You’re always so stupid, tom.
That’s why I had to block your a** on vidmax.
Tom, you say that like it’s a bad thing for OUR Country!
Hell has just frozen over. I am totally MAGA, but now subtract a bit because of Greenland adventure. Greenland is sovereign territory of Denmark. How can US “annex” it? Can we make Den.ark an offer it can’t refuse? Well, let our legendarydealmaker try
But no guns. Please!
Judith, what cult leader on t v told you that we were going to use guns in greenland?
I suspect the cost of a security guarantee for Ukraine and EU will be Greenland. This is the negotiation strategy.
Typical European limpwrists in a tizzy over “words” instead of action. The actions of Russia and China in the Arctic should concern the EU, but Greenland is part of N. America and thus falls under the Monroe Doctrine. Peace thru dealmaking 🇺🇸🥳🇺🇸🥳🇺🇸
Bull💩. They always say it’s about national security interests or safety. Whenever they use these terms you know they’re lying. You all being played.
Bull💩. They always say it’s about national security interests or safety. Whenever they use these terms you know they’re lying. You all being played. And get rid of these damn pop-ups.
Excellent way to exit the defunct NATO and bring Greenland under North American control. Next step is to take back the Panama Canal and make Alberta and New Foundland US states.
