(DCNF)—Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren said Friday on CNN that President Donald Trump is trying to latch onto New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s rising profile.
Trump held a friendly discussion with Mamdani Friday inside the Oval Office. Appearing on “The Lead,” Warren said Trump has a problem on affordability and sees Mamdani as someone who can tackle that issue.
“He [Trump] has a problem. And Zohran Mamdani is the person who is now associated with fixing that problem,” Warren told Jake Tapper. “So is it any surprise that Donald Trump wants to stand next to Zohran Mamdani and say, ‘Oh, yeah, we think about things the same way, particularly when it comes to affordability?’”
Warren said Trump is trying to siphon off Mamdani’s momentum.
“He’s just trying to take a little of the shine that Zohran Mamdani has and see if he can, you know, rub a little on Donald Trump,” Warren said.
Mamdani ran on an anti-Trump platform and branded his tour “The Five Boroughs Against Trump.” Trump repeatedly called Mamdani a “communist” and even threatened to have him arrested if he carried out his vows to obstruct Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.
Despite rising prices, economist Steve Moore said the latest jobs report shows Americans finally gaining ground after years of declining purchasing power under former President Joe Biden.
“What I really liked about that jobs report, Larry, was the wage growth. I just don’t get the left’s obsession about affordability and a loss of buying power,” Moore told host Larry Kudlow.
