(Daily Wire)—Ana Navarro claimed that by deploying the U.S. Army National Guard to Los Angeles — amid violent riots that were targeting federal agents — President Donald Trump was using them to set a “trap” for Latinos and force them into a violent reaction.
Navarro made the comments during Monday’s broadcast of “The View” on ABC, as she and her cohosts attacked the Trump administration first for sending Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to enforce federal immigration laws and then for sending in the National Guard when protesters violently attacked the federal agents.
“Today, he is sending in the National Guard to attack the protesters who are there,” Navarro — who immigrated to the United States legally — said, suggesting that the point of bringing the National Guard in was for them to attack the protesters. “And look, this for me hits really close, I’m Latino, I’m an immigrant, these are my people who are getting dragged through the streets.”
She went on to warn the Latino community that Trump had sent the National Guard to goad them into committing acts of violence. “We must be strategic, we must be nonviolent. We have the right to protest, we are Americans, this is our country, we have the right to free speech, but we cannot fall into the trap that Donald Trump is setting of wanting to turn this into violent protests.”
